Matthew McConaughey

alright, alright, alright

A fan tribute to the Uvalde-born, Austin-based actor and author — from a stoner named Wooderson to an Oscar for Dallas Buyers Club, from True Detective to Interstellar, and from the back roads of a journal to the pages of Greenlights.

A word from your neighbors

A new sister site

For years this little corner of the web has kept fan sites we are quietly proud of — austen.com for Jane Austen, firth.com for Colin Firth, and ryanholidayfans.com for the Stoic author down the road in Bastrop.

Matthew McConaughey joins the family, and this one is Texas to the bone. Uvalde-born, University of Texas educated, Austin home. We are neighbors a creek away, and when Ryan Holiday brings Matthew to the Bastrop Opera House stage on November 11, it lands in our own backyard.

So this is a fan's thank-you: for turning a journal of hard years into Greenlights, for betting on the hard roles when the easy paychecks were right there, and for keeping it Texan the whole way through.

There are three things I need each day. One is something to look up to, another is something to look forward to, and another is someone to chase.

His approach to life

Just keep livin

A motto that traces back to the loss of his father, and the name of the foundation he and Camila run for at-risk teens. Alongside the green lights of the memoir, it is the closest thing he has to a creed.
